Mission Arm
Blessing Hands Mission was established by Toronto Harvest Missionary Church in 2000, in Sri Lanka.
Blessing Hands Mission is a non-profitable organization founded by Pastor Vincent Sahayanathan and the Church in Toronto, Canada, to support the nation of Sri Lanka and its civilians through evangelical and charitable work. Over the last decade Blessing Hands Mission has intervened and provided relief in moments of Sri Lanka’s disastrous events, such as the 2004 Tsunami, various war-torn instances, and throughout COVID-19. Blessing Hands Mission also supports local schools and a children’s orphanage to present. Blessing Hands Mission has held gospel crusades, youth meetings and evangelical seminars over the last decade, winning many souls for the Kingdom of God.
Within the last decade, THMC established the Blessing Hands Mission, and commenced the building of a Vocational Training Centre in Mylampavaly, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. The aim of the Training Centre is to be a ground upon which youth across the nation will be trained to do outreach work. Students will spend six months at the Centre where they will learn the keys to mission work. They are to take the skills equipped from the Centre and travel into the 38, 000 villages across Sri Lanka and provide help and support to people in broken homes and families, victims of abuse, the drug and alcohol dependent, and kids who have no access to education. These trained students will ultimately go out to work towards spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and restoring hope and productivity for people in villages that currently lack opportunities to thrive. This program will run year-round, and young people who are sought out in villages will be given the opportunity to accept Jesus into their heart, register at the Vocational Training Centre for further discipleship and a chance to help others who were once lost like them.
Our mission goal is that this Training Center raises a generation who desires to serve the nation and propel its prosperity. We invite you all to visit our Blessing Hands website to learn more on how you can participate and be involved in our mission work so that it will be a great blessing to the nation of Sri Lanka.
Mission Focus
Jesus said, “I came to give you peace, and the peace I give you is not of this world but of mine.” Jesus has given His divine peace to us. The prime responsibility of each believer and our Church is to take His peace into the world. This was the command of Jesus to His followers. Having kept this command in mind, THMC actively does ministry in Sri Lanka. Our focus is to continue this ministry in Sri Lanka by the offerings given willingly, believers that are filled with burden for the nation, and ready missionaries who want to serve at the Blessing Hands Vocational Training Centre, and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the 38,000 villages.
Mission Statement
To be a good samaritan on the highway, for the message of salvation to travel to the lost of the nation.
Mission Statement
Blessing Hands Mission has one purpose – to minister and reach out to children, young people, parents and adults of the 38, 000 villages across Sri Lanka.
- To help children and young people understand the value of their life.
- To provide support that sets young people free from drug use, alcohol dependency and addictions
- To bring them out of an abused and defeated mindset.
- To heal the mental unstable and brokenhearted, as well as physical healing of disease and sickness.
- Deliver those from the occult.
- To raise them disciples of Jesus Christ from the villages.
These six pillars are a highway for us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
History
Sri Lanka has a population of about 21 million occupants. The population of this country has a dividend of four ethnic groups – Sinhala, Tamils, Muslims and Burgers (Anglo-Indians). Religious statistics have shown that 74% of the populous practice Buddhism, 18% are Hindus, and the remaining are Muslim and Christian. We are working through Sri Lankan local churches to spread the gospel, to reach the unreached people groups. This has and continues to be done through:
- City-wide Crusades
- Leadership Training
- Youth Outreach Programs
- Believers Seminar
- Prayer Rallies
- Disaster and Relief Work
- Rehabilitation Programs
Blessing Hands Mission Work (2011 to 2016)
In April of 2011, Blessing Hands Mission held a Prayer Camp in Hatton, Sri Lanka.
Pastors got together to pray – and, during that time of prayer, God placed the vision in Pastor Vincent to reach out to each of the 25 districts in Sri Lanka within the next two years.
Immediately a plan was set in motion to hold Gospel Meetings to win more souls for the Kingdom of God, Believer’s Meetings to strengthen the believer’s faith to stand in the gap to pray for the nation and Youth Meetings to help mold and shape the next generation to be a people who would stand like an army for Christ and become the next leaders in the nation. Prayer Journey’s were also planned so that we could go through the cities and pray against any hindrance that may come against the gospel being spread.
District Outreach
God’s grace has been with us and has enabled us to reach out to the 25 districts and complete the vision God has given us. The order in which we went to each place is as follows:
- Stage 1 : Trinco, Ampara, Polonnaruwa, Kandy
- Stage 2 : Mannar, Nuwara-Eliya, Anurathapura and Ratnapura
- Stage 3 : Kegalle, Jaffna, Hambantota and Monaragala
- Stage 4 : Batticaloa, Puttalam, Gampaha and Galle
- Stage 5 : Vaalaichchenai, Badulla, Mathala, Kurunegala, Kaluthara and Mattara
- Stage 6 : Jaffna (North & East youth Meeting)
We have faith that the 25 districts in Sri Lanka will be filled with the Gospel and washed by the blood of Jesus Christ. As God has promised, Sri Lanka will be a blessed land for the whole world.
War Relief
Many ministers that were affected by the war had reported to us how much this ministry meant to them, and for those who were wounded and left hopeless during the war.
From the involvement of relief work during the peak war time (2006 to 2009), the Blessing Hands Mission’s necessity to intervene for the nation of Sri Lanka became valued because of the difference they made during the war time. It was at this moment the Blessing Hands Mission understood the permanent position they needed to hold in Sri Lanka.
Blessing Hands Mission intervened through financial donations for those who lost their loved ones, belongings and properties. Special intervention was made at Vanni refugee camps where there was heavy loss from the war. Distribution of medical relief packages were given to meet immediate needs of wounded people. We were also able to help the people displaced by war with packages of rice, sugar and other essential needs.
Blessing Hands Training Centre
Over the last decade, Blessing Hands Mission increased in passion to raise the youth and young generation of Sri Lanka. A divine appointment took place where a sound from Heaven came telling the nation to have hope for a young generation who will be raised to lead, change, and restore the nation towards peace and purpose. A vision was born in Pastor Vincent to build a Training Centre in Mylampavaly, Batticaloa.
Every single member of THMC joined hands with Rev. Joseph Beesley, Pastor Justin Beesley at Hope City in New Brunswick, Canada to propel the execution of the goal, along with Greg Dunlop, Glen Cooke, the Irving’s, David O’Leary, and TAAS Enterprise Ltd.
It is with great honour that on March 30, 2022, the opening of the Training Centre for young people across the 25 districts of Sri Lanka to be trained to do outreach work. These trained students will ultimately go out to work towards restoring hope in broken homes and families, victims of abuse, the drug and alcohol dependent, and kids in villages that lack opportunities to thrive.
Students will spend 6 months at the Centre, where they will study the doctrines and pillars of sharing their faith, keys to evangelism, and how to reach a young generation. These biblical focused lectures will support their field placements/mobile ministry as they practice what they learned in weekly visits to villages. In these visitations, the students will evangelize and minister to young people who need the peace, love, and salvation of Jesus Christ.
Important Events
Gospel and Youth Meeting (2012-2014) – these are the first major youth and gospel meetings held in history.
Mannar city is located in the Northwest of Sri Lanka. 90% of its residents are fishermen. It is the most severely war affected district in the nation. The youth in this city are not encouraged to pursue a higher education and are sent to learn fishing at small ages. There were many hindrances that restricted our access into this city, but in the year of 2012, God used the Blessing Hands Mission to host a vibrant Gospel Crusade that changed the lives of thousands and thousands of people. This meeting sparked the later revival meetings that took place in Ampara, Valaichenai, Nuwara-Eliya, Trincomalee, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Ratnapura, and Jaffna.
In 2014, the divine happening of birthing a vision for the Training Centre took place at the Jaffna Youth Meeting.
